- Just saw Capote. What a beautiful portrait of an unlikeable man.
- Earlier, went for a walk in the jardins du Palais Royal and spent some time gazing in the window of Didier Ludot. I wonder if this is the place where Reese Witherspoon found her Oscars dress. There was a stunning Schiaparelli gown from 1937 that I could really picture Uma Thurman in. Not this one, but this is beautiful, courtesy of google images and the Metropolitan Museum of Art :
- Craving beer, bought a can out of the cooler of a fruit and veg shop on the avenue, because getting it at the supermarket meant it wouldn't be cold. Thought about buying some fruit as well for fear of looking like a rather desperate alcoholic, but didn't.
Good choice on no fruit. Fruit and beer = yuck. Chocolate and beer, not so bad, actually.
ReplyDeleteI adore Schiaperelli. It's a goal to one day own a beautiful vintage Schiaparelli something, anything. *sigh*
Luckily I had chocolate in the house already !
ReplyDeleteYes, vintage Schiaparelli is fantastic. It's a completely wasted brand nowadays though, which is a shame. They need to hire a hot new designer who will use the old image and make it modern and cutting edge again... Like Balenciaga with Nicolas Ghesquière. Or Rochas with Olivier Theyskens.
See, I think Capote was likeable in being so unlikeable -- that's what I loved about PSH's portrayal. He was both disgusting and sympathetic.
ReplyDeletePSH was great, no doubt about it. And yes, I liked the way TC was showed as very human, very flawed. That's what made Capote good and not just another biopic. But to be so selfish, and so manipulative...
ReplyDeleteHear hear!
ReplyDeleteDo you know there is a Balenciaga retrospective at the Musee de la Mode starting my last day in Paris (July 4), I'm so excited!
